Yes, that's right - scented cork grease! This isn't the standard "cheap" grease you typically find in school band rooms or rental instruments. Here's the scoop straight from Kevin Collins on what makes his grease better:
"Aside from the medicinal odor cork grease 'proudly' shares to the world, the components of {other greases} in reality does more damage to the cork than good. Most cork grease manufacturers do little more to their lubricant - typically an animal fat byproduct or refined oil sludge - than to add a stabilizer or preservative. When added all up, this recipe is sub-par for the cork's porous body. Even the so-called 'premium' grades are composed of just 2 to 3 lubricants. My cork grease has 7, using some of Mother Nature's finest lubricants such as beeswax, aloe vera and vitamin E oil."
Our own experience with Collins' scented grease confirms that his hand-made formula really does perform better than normal grease.
