Fibracell reeds are made from a synthetic blend of Kevlar fibers and resin that looks, feels, and plays very much like real cane. While most players would probably agree that no synthetic reed yet developed can match the sound of a really good cane reed, Fibracell reeds come close. So why choose a synthetic reed at all?
- Requires no pre-wetting - Fibracell reeds can be played dry
- Won't dry out or get soggy - they can be played in all weather conditions for any length of time
- Long-lasting and durable - synthetic reeds eventually wear out from playing, but compared to cane reeds they have a much longer life
- Consistent and uniform - one of the biggest complaints we hear from players is that a box of even the best cane reeds will have a few good reeds and a few bad ones. Since Fibracell reeds are manufacturered rather than grown, they all play exactly the same - no more bad reeds!
- Better clarity and projection - compared to your average cane reed, Fibracell reeds play louder and with a clearer tone. This can be a great benefit for marching bands, jazz bands, rock bands, soloists, or anyone that wants to be heard.
