Rental FAQ's
What is included in the rental fee?
- Monthly rental fees include instrument, case, mouthpiece and other basic accessories, repairs and tax.
- Comprehensive Maintenance Plan CMP assures repair service during the rental period to keep the instrument in top condition.
- An instructional DVD is given FREE to all beginning students.
- Music books, music stands, and additional supplies are available for purchase at greatly discounted prices.
Our teacher recommends renting. Do you agree?
- Yes, we believe that renting is a good option for the beginning student, especially one who hasn't played a particular instrument before or one who simply cannot make up their mind what type of instrument they want to play.
- Renting should be viewed as an introduction while testing the waters and getting a feel for involvement with an instrumental music program.
Things to consider:
Learn what you can about your student's program before you make a decision to rent or buy. The student's level of commitment, how well the music program is established, and family finances may affect the decision to rent or to buy.
- Many school music programs have a high retention rate and performing opportunities for students. Students in these programs will be expected to stay in for at least the whole school year to learn the basics and gain confidence.
- In contrast, some areas have music programs that are held after school, or may last for only a portion of the school year. Renting in this situation may be a logical choice since there may be less motivation for the student to continue on beyond a few months.
- If you believe your child is likely to continue with music for the long haul, then purchasing may be a better option than renting. This is especially true for returning students who are continuing in their second or third year on with the same instrument.
Does ABI have a "Rent-to own" program?
- ABI has chosen not to offer this option because, one way or another, it means we'd have to overcharge our customers.
- Please think carefully before overspending on contracts like most "rent-apply-to-purchase" gimmicks. Sure, the monthly payments SEEM small, but ...
Compare the total spending in the long run and you'll discover that:
-
The total costs? Check the bottom line. In other words....
-
Chances are you are signing a contract for either a) an 'off brand' product or b) an inflated price rather than a discounted sale price.
-
You will likely pay full retail price for the same instrument you could have purchased for a fraction of the amount.
-
The vendor may be offering an instrument of lesser quality with a price that compares to a name-brand instrument on sale. The lesser brands will not serve the student well and may cause you to make another purchase too soon. What is ABI's Buy-Back Guarantee program? In response to the "common sense" buying habits of our customers, ABI has created a Buy-Back Guarantee program. This is for customers who prefer to skip the rental process and would rather make a well-informed purchase of a new student level instrument. Here's how it works:
-
New instruments are sold at our everyday low prices. Then, as long as you keep the instrument for at least 6 months, we'll allow you the option of selling the instrument back to us.
-
The pro-rated scale is very fair (our reputation speaks for itself) and this program is highly successful.
-
Our everyday discount pricing is among the best you'll find. And since we sell only the best products available, instruments from ABI retain a good resale value.
-
Owning a good quality instrument develops pride of ownership and helps your student make a commitment to give this new interest some quality time.
