Welcome parents and students in the Placentia Yorba Linda school district! Serving the cities of Placenta, Yorba Linda, and parts of eastern Anaheim, PYLUSD has one of the strongest school music programs in all of Southern California. The elementary music program is fully supported by the district, and the middle and high school groups consistently win awards and accolades at competitions. Groups from the district have been invited to perform at many prestigious events over the years, including the Rose Parade, the Playboy Jazz Festival, and the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games.
Anaheim Band has a long history working with the teachers and families of Placentia Yorba Linda USD to provide top quality instruments, supplies,
rentals,
repairs, and
private lessons to the music students of the district.
Elementary Instrumental Music
PYLUSD offers instrumental music to students beginning in the 5th grade, with instruction offered for wind instruments, percussion and orchestral strings. Music teachers typically visit schools twice a week, with students pulled out of their regular classroom to receive instruction.
The district typically holds a parent information meeting in mid-September to provide details about the elementary music program. A great deal of important information is given at this meeting, so if your child is planning on participating in music it's a good idea to attend.
For the 2010/2011 school year, the meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 20th, 2010. Please check with your school or the district for more details.
Beginning wind players will use the
Accent on Achievement series of music books.
Beginning orchestral string players will use the
All For Strings series of music books.
