A California native, Kye holds a Bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Pomona. He has studied with trumpet great Bobby Shew and jazz vibraphonist Charlie Shoemaker. Kye has performed as a regular member of the Brian Setzer Orchestra and the Tonight Show Band. As a freelance artist, he has played with Bob Dylan, Jerry Seinfeld, Ray Charles, and Woody Herman, and has recorded for many major motion picture soundtracks. Kye appeared on the BSO's Grammy-Award winning recording of "Caravan," the certified gold CD Best of the Big Band. As an educator, Kye specializes in range development, jazz style, and improvization. He teaches students of all ages.
